Marié 2026 Season Fishing Report | A new potential IGFA record! The 93 cm Giant on the Rio Marié Week 09 | October 5 to 11

The second Tailwaters group of the season brought energy, humor, and friendly competition back to the Rio Marié. Between shared moments on the water and the pursuit of trophy-class peacock bass, the atmosphere stayed strong throughout the trip.

The fishing offered several meaningful opportunities across the week. Some came through careful observation and timing, while others required anglers to respond after earlier chances had slipped away. As always on the Marié, being ready when the right fish appeared made the difference.

A fish of a lifetime, and a potential new IGFA world record, at Rio Marié is part of our 9th week!

   River Conditions:

Water levels stayed relatively consistent for most of the week before rising again toward the end.

That shift changed the fishery again and required the team to keep observing how the river developed as the week came to a close.

   Weather Conditions:

Mostly sunny weather prevailed throughout the week, with water temperatures averaging approximately 26°C.

|Unforgettable Moments of the Week

Andy’s 93 cm Giant

The defining catch of the week came when Andy hooked the season's largest peacock bass so far, guided by our native pro guide, Carlos, into a brilliant sight-fishing situation.

The fish measured 93 cm and weighed 25 lb, making it one of the Rio Marié's most significant trophy-class catches. This could also be a new tie to the current IGFA all-length world record, set in 2023 in Rio Marié!

A peacock bass of this size represents the kind of opportunity that defines the Rio Marié. At 93 cm, Andy’s fish became another major example of the extraordinary size potential found in these protected waters.

Brent Joins the 20 lb Club

While working a lagoon, Brent noticed unusual movement near the surface and guides recognized an opportunity developing.

He waited for the right moment, cast as the guide instructed, and hooked a beautiful peacock bass that earned him a spot in the 20 lb club.

Max Makes the Next Opportunity Count

A few days earlier, Max had lost a big fish. When another opportunity appeared, he was ready.

Sight casting to a giant, Max connected and landed a 21 lb peacock bass, turning an earlier missed opportunity into one of his week's standout catches.

The result was a strong reminder that one missed fish does not have to define the trip. What matters is being ready when the next opportunity appears.

|Looking Ahead

With water levels beginning to change again by the end of the week, the Rio Marié is entering another period of adaptation.

Our guides will continue evaluating how the river develops and adjusting their approach as conditions evolve. Week nine again showed that observation, timing, and consistent execution remain essential when pursuing trophy-class peacock bass.
