Renne Marie – A Legendary Take

Renne Marie came ready for her third fly fishing adventure, equipped with intense pre-trip training, including an innovative practice session involving a peacock bass silhouette tied to a remote-controlled car—a creation by her friend Amanda Willshire. On a prime fishing day, Renne faced a colossal peacock bass, which struck near the boat, and in an instant, the fight was on. Calmly following her guide’s instructions, she expertly worked the powerful fish until it finally surrendered—a stunning 87 cm, 20+ lbs peacock bass that exemplifies the true spirit of Rio Marié. Congratulations, Renne—you’ve set a new standard!

Mitchell – The Grand Finale

Having already joined the 20 lb club with a massive 21 lb peacock bass, Mitchell’s week was seemingly complete, but Rio Marié had one final surprise in store. On the last day, while fishing a hidden creek, Mitchell felt a powerful strike. As he worked to gain control, he and his guide José were astonished to see a large Surubim catfish rise to the surface—a rare and challenging catch on the fly! Kudos to Mitchell for an extraordinary ending to his adventure on the Rio Marié.

Tanner – Persistence Rewarded

Some days, everything simply aligns. For Tanner, this was his week. It began with an early-morning encounter with a fierce 10 lb peacock bass. But the real challenge came when he spotted another sizable fish on a nest. Following his guide Rafael’s encouragement, Tanner cast repeatedly, refusing to give up. After 30 minutes of persistence, the fish struck with unmatched ferocity, racing into the bushes. Rafael swiftly jumped in, retrieving the giant—a magnificent 87 cm, 21 lb peacock bass. Tanner’s luck held as he soon found himself wrestling an 18 lb peacock bass, another testament to the rewards of determination and skill. A morning Tanner won’t soon forget.

Looking Ahead:

With the river’s steady rise, anticipation builds as we enter the latter part of the season. The shifting waters promise to unveil more of Rio Marié’s legendary trophies, as the experienced guides and eager anglers prepare for what the Amazon has yet to reveal.
