Another unforgettable week came to an end on the Marié, marked by great camaraderie and remarkable fishing. We had the honor of hosting a group of longtime friends, joined by renowned bat conservationist Merlin Tuttle, who added to the spirit of exploration and appreciation for the Amazon.
The week’s defining moment was the landing of the 10th peacock bass over 90 cm of the 2025 season — an achievement unmatched anywhere else in the world of peacock bass fishing.
As water levels continued to drop, opportunities multiplied. The Marié once again proved why it stands alone as the River of Giants.

UNFORGETTABLE MOMENT
Larry: On the last day of his trip, Larry, who had already landed an impressive 18 lb fish earlier in the week — but the Marié had one more surprise in store. That afternoon, he spotted a powerful wake and placed his cast perfectly. The strike was instant and violent, peeling line and backing in seconds. The battle grew intense as the fish charged dangerously close to the bank’s structure, but Larry stayed calm and in control. Finally, a 21 lb giant slid into the net — the ultimate highlight of his week on the River of Giants.
Rusty: The morning began like any other, but destiny had other plans. Entering a lagoon, his guide noticed a large wake and signaled. Rusty’s cast was perfect, and the strike came instantly. The fish ripped through the fly line deep into the backing, forcing his guide to fire up the outboard to keep it away from the shore. After a dramatic fight, the giant was finally secured: a 91 cm peacock bass, marking the 10th fish over 90 cm of the season. An achievement that will be remembered.
LOOKING AHEAD
With the river dropping fast and conditions improving by the day, the coming weeks hold great promise. More giants are expected to emerge, and every cast has the potential to add another chapter to the unmatched story of the Marié.
