Marié 2025 Season Fishing Report | Persistence Meets Giants Week 02 | August 17 – 24

Led by renowned angler Christiaan Pretorius, this week’s group arrived eager to embrace everything the Marié offers. Their energy and enthusiasm set the tone both on the water and aboard the Untamed mothership, creating a week filled with camaraderie, laughter, and memorable encounters.

The fishing matched the spirit of the group. With water levels steady and dropping, anglers connected with powerful peacock bass across lagoons and structures, testing skill and persistence against some of the river’s largest residents. Giants over 20 lbs made their presence known, proving once again why the Marié is called the River of Giants.

It was a week that blended technical challenge with pure enjoyment—a reminder that at the Marié, success is measured not only in numbers, but also in the stories shared and friendships forged along the way.

Brad
: What began as a slow day turned into a story for the ages. After a fly change, Brad hooked into a true monster—a 90 cm, 24 lb peacock bass so powerful it broke the first landing net. With the backup net, they finally secured the fish, sealing an unforgettable triumph.
