Marié 2025 Season Fishing Report | River of Giants, Opening Fire Week 01 | August 10 – 17

We opened our 11th season with the energy this river demands. Rio Marié remains the ultimate, limited-access destination for giant peacock bass—a place designed for anglers who value refined tactics, disciplined casting, and the pursuit of exceptional fish. It is not for everyone. It is for those seeking the pinnacle of jungle fly fishing, where a single strike can define  your week. This week confirmed once again why the Marié holds the world’s largest specimens, and why its reputation is built on precision, persistence, and rarity.

UNFORGETTABLE MOMENT

The Guide Team — A Historic First: Indigenous Pro Fly-Fishing Guides at Rio Marié

This week also marked a special milestone: Carlos and Joaquim, once native guides, stepped up as the main professional fly-fishing guides of the Rio Marié. They are the very first Indigenous guides to become full pro fly-fishing guides in the Amazon. Fully trained through Untamed’s program, they distinguished themselves with commitment, skill, and enthusiasm, even dedicating themselves to learning English to better connect with international anglers. Their achievement is a proud chapter in the story of the Marié, showing how deep local knowledge, combined with training and passion, elevates the entire experience.

Juliano — The Opening Statement
Mission clear: land the biggest peacock bass of his life. In a quiet lagoon, his guide Rafael called out a cruiser. One precise cast with the Marié SLT, one decisive eat, and the fight was on. Juliano held firm and brought a 90 cm giant to hand—textbook jungle execution.

Tio Mike — Veteran Precision

With years of experience on these waters, Mike’s measured approach was rewarded with an 88 cm, 22 lb trophy. A reminder that calm precision is the edge on the Marié.

Michael — When the Log Moved

A cast to a subtle mark, a heavy strip, and what seemed like a log came alive. The fight ended with a 20 lb Temensis—classic Marié deception and drama.

Matthew & John — Legacy on the Line

Using a fly tied by his grandfather John, Matthew landed the biggest peacock bass of his young life. A generational moment, written on the waters of the Marié.

LOOKING AHEAD

With water levels steady and bait becoming more concentrated in the lagoons, the weeks ahead promise consistent trophy opportunities. The Marié is set to deliver what only it can: precise casts, bigger fish, and the kind of encounters that define a lifetime of angling.
